SWITZERLAND. Bern, 1494. Guldiner (Silver, 41 mm, 29.75 g, 12 h). Bear walking left below imperial double eagle; above, semicircle consisting of the coat of arms of the Vogteien Niedersimmental, Frutigen, Burgdorf, Thun, Laupen, Obersimmental and Aeschi; in outer circle, twenty coat of arms of Aarberg, Lenzburg, Brugg, Aarau, Zofingen, Oberhasli, Unterseen, Interlaken, Trachselwald, Murten, Huttwil, Aarburg, Erlach, Aarwangen, Orbe, Grandson, Bipp, Wangen, Büren and Nidau. Rev. SAnCTVS VIN-CЄnTIVS 1494 St. Vincent standing front, head to left, holding book of gospels in his right hand and quill pen in his left. Davenport 8721. HMZ 2-162c. Rare and beautifully toned. Minor weakness on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
